I spent the summer working and planning a missions trip. Fred and I decided to go on a missions trip up north to a Native reserve back in the spring - but very quickly as the summer approached we realized that if we were going we were going to have to take on a lot of the responsibility of planning/organizing and running the week long event.
With the help of one of my best friends, April, we were able to plan the crafts, schedules and everything else for the week long VBS program we would run for the kids on this reserve.
It was exhausting but so worth it. We travelled up on the Saturday (16 hours), spent the Sunday advertising the program and Monday-Friday with two evening events with run the daily program. From 1pm - 4pm we had any where from 35-50 kids. We did some really fun crafts, many of the team (12 of us in total) did skits every day, lots of games and lots of relationship building.
It was an eye opening experience - one that I"m so thankful God used me in and allowed me to grow throught it - I never thought I could plan something like that but he helped me all the way -- even though I complained a lot of the way!
Here are a few pics from the week:
Hmm, seems when I left a comment on here last week, it didn't take. I'm excited to see you are writing again! You have such a way with words - I love reading your blog!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say again I think you and Fred did a fantastic job leading the team! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of the experience!
